CCT Computational Expression Spring 2013

Georgetown University Washington, DC

http://www.colophon.org
This course introduces students to Processing, an open-source, Java-based, web-distributable programming language engineered for creative procedural expression. In this course, students will gain theoretical insight into the nature of code and computation as they build new apps every week. Readings will emphasize social and cultural implications of a culture of computation. During the second half of the semester, students will build a series of custom applications reflective of their own interests in computational expression. These applications will typically fall into one of two camps: Data visualization and Creative Expression. In both cases, we will make extensive use of public datasets and collaborative coding to create web-accessible projects.
