The script models the expanding urban fabric at Hong Kong's Victoria Harbar. Once 2.3 km wide, the water is now 910 meters at the narrowest. The waterfront edge has had a progressive growth, producing districts of varying urban density. With the two patterns eventually colliding, the colored fluctuating strips suggest the utilization of the interstitial spaces as possible ways to further colonize the new districts.

The LONGBOARDER acts upon the urban grid by
forging new paths without thought of consequence. This forms a new boundary between
what is accepted and what is controversial.
How can the city counteract the LONGBOARDER?

paved by the LONGBOARDER?

The program has the user controlling an artificial light source which can be thought of as the “sun.” When the light source is placed over a room in the plan of the house, the room lights up and when the light source moves away from the room, it returns to it’s initial state of darkness. The house consists of 2 floors and to represent both of the floors simultaneously I programmed the image to switch between floors depending on if the mouse is being dragged or not.

The intention of the program was to investigate the geometric language of the house through two different approaches. In the first approach the user is able to draw L shaped walls within the first volume freely. In the second main volume the user can generate the actual plans by drawing two vertical lines that begin to generate the plan as the walls get longer. This volume shows the hierarchy of the walls in the house.

"There has been much said about the unique property of Farnsworth House to blend harmoniously with the landscape. However this behavior becomes more evident during winter and continues to change upon different seasons of the year.
Inspired by the intrinsic reaction of the house to the context, I created an interactive animation that interplays between the levels by which the house is concealed or revealed."
