Assignment #7 for Creative Algorithms (Fall 2011) @ Massachusetts College of Art and Design This is a data visualization for the U.S. Geological Survey's gemstone statistics: metric tons of gemstones vs. time (1940-2010). This visualization shows the data with a step size of 10 years, starting at 1945 and going up to 2005. This visualization excludes dates so that there is increased focus on the visual representation of the trend of increasing production over time-- the gemstone time markers are more vibrant in hue at years when more are produced.
