Rotating Square

Controls: MouseX: Rotation speed MouseY: Square size Click: Rotation direction UP/DOWN: Square luminance LEFT/RIGHT: Background luminance There seems to be a strange differential brightness percept anchored to the shape of the square as it rotates. The effect begins at a certain rotation speed and seems independent of size. It is strongest with high contrast in either direction. With a white square, there seem to be X-shaped shadows going into the corners, with brighter spots centered on each edge and at the very corners. The opposite is perceived within a black square.
